    Formation of Rainbows???

    A rainbow is formed when sunlight enters the rain drops and is dispersed into many rays of colours.

    They are not only formed after the rain, but even when there are suspended drops of water like in waterfalls and fountains, or the sprays of water on the ocean, in mist and so on.

    We need to stand with the sun behind our backs to see a rainbow. The rays of the sunlight are reflected within the raindrops and are cast back to the observer's eyes.
